Dr. Gloria Rockwell

Dr. Gloria Rockwell has a unique background that includes high-level achievements in academics, sports, dance, creative arts, and languages, and she brings these strengths into her practice of plastic surgery and life in general.
She earned a Bachelor of Science (cum laude) and graduated as valedictorian from Dalhousie University in 1993. She then completed medical school at Dalhousie University in 1997, earning one of only a few positions in the country for plastic surgery training—and at the time, one of even fewer positions available to women in the specialty.
She completed five years of plastic surgery training in 2002 at McMaster University. This was followed by two years of fellowship training in breast reconstruction and advanced microsurgical techniques through McMaster University and the University of Toronto.
Dr. Rockwell pursued additional international aesthetic and cosmetic surgery training through educational events, professional society memberships, presentations, and conferences. She has maintained certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada since 2002 and the American Board of Plastic Surgery since 2004.
These global experiences have helped Dr. Rockwell refine her surgical and aesthetic expertise and outcomes.
From a research and academic perspective, Dr. Rockwell has been at the forefront of advancements in safe surgical care. She earned a Master of Science in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University in 2007. She has been on faculty in the University of Ottawa Department of Surgery since 2004 and has been a founding member of the University of Ottawa Plastic Surgery Training Program since 2010. She has held leadership roles including Director of Undergraduate Teaching, Director of Postgraduate Teaching, Director of Research, and Director of Quality Outcomes and Patient Safety. Dr. Rockwell continues to play a key role in educating and training future plastic surgeons in Canada.
The knowledge and experience gained throughout her education, research, academic teaching, surgical career, and life experience provide Dr. Rockwell with a distinctive perspective and an individualized approach to patient care.
