BOTOX® - Corner of the Eye & Mouth
Crow's feet are lines (wrinkles) on the face that radiate outwards from the corners of the eyes. They are caused by the many factors normally responsible for the wrinkling of skin including sun exposure, genetic factors and natural aging. However, repeated facial movement or expression such as laughing, smiling, or squinting contributes to the development of more noticeable, deeper or more permanent wrinkles.
Deep smile folds (also known as nasolabial folds) are the large visible folds that run from the corner of the nose to the corner of the mouth. Facial structure and genetic factors partially determine the prominence and depth of nasolabial folds. Although they are more exaggerated when smiling as aging occurs, they may appear more permanent and deeper and contribute to a "sagging" appearance, causing the face to look tired or drawn.
BOTOX® has demonstrated great results in removing facial wrinkles. Wrinkles are caused by natural movements of the facial muscles. To remove these indicators of aging, BOTOX® can be injected.
BOTOX® treatments work by using a purified protein below the surface of the skin to block the transmission of nerve impulses to the treated muscles. As the muscle relaxes, the dynamic wrinkle overlying the muscle is smoothed away. Relaxation of these muscles by the simple injection of BOTOX® will help to lessen or completely remove frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar), crow's-feet lines at the outside corners of the eyes, and forehead wrinkles. When it is administered by a qualified physician using the proper technique, your face will still look natural and relaxed.
The BOTOX® treatment is quite painless and quick and no special preparations are necessary. The treatment involves the injection of the BOTOX® toxin through a very fine needle into the particular muscles. The patient can return to work and regular activities a few hours after the treatment. The result, however, is not permanent and the patient can return for more treatments if the results are desirable.
BOTOX® is a prescribed medication and needs to be administered through a qualified and knowledgeable professional. The physician treating you is an important aspect of your care as it’s their expertise that will help ensure you get the results you are looking for.
